What is FIRST? FIRST stands For Inspiration and Recognition of Science & Technology. FIRST was started by Dean Kamen in 1989 to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders. The FIRST Robotics Competition teams professionals and young people to solve an engineering design problem. Teams have six-weeks to design, build and program a robot to achieve a task and compete in a sports arena. The FIRST Robotics competition is an exciting, multi-national event. The program is a life-changing, career molding experience – and a lot of fun! Learn more
